elettaria just linked me to this splendid community. As I am a medievalist currently reading the magnificently slashy twelfth-century anonymous poem, the Chanson de Roland, could I possibly request the additional date tags "1100s" and "1200s"? Thank you!

Tags added! Welcome :) It's an area we don't seem to have a lot from, yet, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you have!

I adore your icon passionately. (There are not enough Gawain/Green Knight shippers in the world.) Where did you get the picture?

It's the cover of the American edition of the Tolkien translation. I am very much a fan of Gawain, but none of the English editions I have had an iconable picture, so I searched around online. We studied the Winney edition last year, but the picture was dreadful :D

elfbystarlight? When you've finished washing the henna samples out of your hair - and I want a detailed description of the results, darling - could you fix this? I realised yesterday that you're going to have to be the one who updates this list, since you're the only one who can edit it.

But I can put those dates in the tags list, even if they don't appear here yet. Any more suggestions? We really need some tags for poetry, I'm not sure what to put yet since it's not remotely my field. Epic poetry? Narrative poetry?

1100s and 1200s are already added to the list. Been a bit of a day, I've spent most of it zonked out, so reports will have to wait until I can get as far as a mirror. :)

Could we have tags for authors Hardy and Scott, please? I've just posted an entry on one of Hardy's novels (I'll go back and add his tag when it's available), and I hope to get round to Scott... eventually.

With Walter Scott in mind I wondered if there might also be call for "historical" or "romance" genre tags? (except the latter could cause some confusion between the swashbuckling-type romance, and the Mills and Boon-type romance...)

Have added Hardy, Scott and Historical - haven't added Romance yet as I agree it could cause some confusion. We'll have to ponder that one and see if we can come up with alternates.

And we'll need it in some form for things like the Knight's Tale. Maybe just put in "romance" and add a footnote?
